This weekend took place in Salzburg general assembly ISMF with a lot of questions deal now, as a representative of the riders with Mireia Miró, I could not attend because I was traveling in the U.S., but we had spent our comments and proposals ISMF.
The questions a traiter étaient nombreuses, car il fallait approuver des nouveaux règlements, calendriers, propositions...mais celle qui était la plus attendue, c'était celle du circuit "The Big Race". Finalement, par 9 votes en contre, 4 pour et une abstention, le projet à été refusé.
A titre personel, d'un coté je suis content, car le projet TBR avait beaucoup de points que je voyais difficiles avec la situation de notre sport aujourd'hui; le grand nombre de courses WC+TBR qui était difficile a supporter économiquement par les fédérations nationales, le nombre d'équipes participants format "nations" especially in the female teams and small countries (in boys there is that France, Italy, Switzerland and Spain, which can form more than one team at the same level ... )
But I am much pleased, I think the work he has been behind this project was worth its weight, the idea proposed by André Dugit, was a good form improve the image of this sport, make it known and recognized outside "world skimo. We need these Big races we have always in our dreams and we always want to participate are under the umbrellas ISMF. Probably thought the format in a first moment is still good, but why not in a format resembling the Golden League, now Diamond League Worldloppet, Ironman or the ProTour? All these are well supported, regulated and controlled by their respective federations, the IAAF, the FIS, the ITU and the UCI but outside Championships and / or World Cups. A circuit with more "open" it will also allow the entry of other agents that national federations, removing loads of them, multiplying resources: personal (more teams so people in the races), representative (Marks, regional federations, ski clubs, companies or other partners could show their colors in these races), and economic (the agents would bring money to participate in races, riders to represent them in the regions, and finally to the ISMF participate in the circuit) so it would mean to multiply for the sport.
Now we need a strong World Cup to reach our goal of Olympism. ll we need a strong World Cup Image, dissemination, participation, globalization ... that is why we must work together, ISMF, federations, but also the riders, brands, coaches ... so it's very easy to speak, to criticize ... but you have to think behind the proposals, develop, give them life, and it is work is time. The project will TBR World Cup this year, but we must not forget, there is a very good project.
